Turkey Roads is an independent guide to riding a motorcycle in Türkiye, written for riders who come from abroad on their own bike or rent one here.
What makes the routes different
Most route guides describe a road from memory. Every route on Turkey Roads is measured from open data before it is published:
- Distance and riding time come from the route traced on the OpenStreetMap road network, using the OSRM routing engine.
- Elevation is sampled every 1.5 km from NASA's SRTM terrain data. Total climbing and the highest point come from those readings.
- Fuel stations within 400 m of the road are taken from OpenStreetMap and placed at their kilometre. Stations that only sell LPG are removed.
Every route page shows the date it was measured and offers the track as a GPX file.
Guides
The practical guides cover paperwork, insurance, road rules and life on the road. Rules and prices are taken from official Turkish sources wherever they exist, and every guide lists the sources it is based on.
Languages
Guides are in English. Routes are published in English and Turkish, so riders living in Türkiye can use them too.
Corrections
Roads change, stations close and rules are updated. If something on a page is wrong or out of date, please tell us and we will check and fix it.
